Invite Paul to preach or speak
If you are the one who has to fill the date
- You need a man in the pulpit, or a voice in the room, and you want more than a slot filled.
- Paul Prosise still believes preaching is life and power and love. The Word does the work. The people in front of you matter.
- He is ordained. He was a pastor. He is not currently pastoring, and he is not an on-call crisis pastor. He comes when you ask, if the date is a fit.
- Please introduce him as Paul. He is not Reverend.
- He comes from the Restoration Movement and the nondenominational Christian Church. That is the air he breathes, not a brand on the sermon.
- He wrote Render Unto Caesar: Why Christians Must Engage Politics and Why Jesus Already Did. That book is Paul Prosise. It is not Chaput. It is not Crossan. If you want it in a hand: paperback https://amzn.to/4qFNt5V and Kindle https://amzn.to/3SVee9X.
Five ways to have him
- Emergency pulpit supply, Denver and Colorado first. Vacancy, illness, or vacation. Sunday is the Lord's Day. It is not a book-tour date. He will not use the sermon to close consulting.
- Event speaker, when the gathering is not the Sunday assembly: a dinner, a conference, a room that needs a clear word.
- Book talk, when you want the why of Render Unto Caesar and the aim of the book. A paperback table can sit at the back if you want it. It is optional. It is not the talk.
- Keynote, when you need a longer word for a specific room. Paul quotes that after he knows the facts. A deposit can hold the date once you agree.
- Podcasts and video, when a host wants a conversation. Those are usually unpaid. Record only if you both say yes.
Tell him which of the five you mean. They stay separate on purpose.
What your people will hear
- They will hear Jesus as the exclusive way of salvation. "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6, ESV).
- If you keep the Lord's Supper every week, he will honor your pattern. Your elders remain in charge of the Table. He is a guest, not the sacramental minister of the house.
- If baptism comes up, he practices believer's baptism by immersion. He will not perform infant baptism or imply it. If your church baptizes infants, you may still ask him to supply. Just do not ask him to baptize.
- Civic life may be in the sermon. A party, an administration, and a campaign will not. "Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's" (Matthew 22:21, ESV).
- Ask before you record. Silence is the default until you both agree.
How the invitation works
- A love offering is a gift your people may choose to give. It is not a required fee under another name.
- An honorarium is your thanks for the work. Keep it distinct from the offering and from travel.
- Travel and expenses are reimbursement. For emergency supply they can be part of the conversation.
- Paul sets the fee after he knows the date, the city, the package, and the travel. There is no list price on this page.
- He decides whether the invitation is a fit.
Ask him
- Reply Interest + Speaking, or write him.
- Proton: paulprosise@proton.me
- AgentMail: paulprosise@agentmail.to
- Send the date, the city, which of the five you mean, how many talks or services, whether the Lord's Supper is expected, what travel looks like, and whether this is vacancy, illness, or vacation.
- If it is a fit, you will hear back. If it is not, you will hear that too, without pressure.
